There are many reasons we should send colonists to live in space. One of them is that if Earth’s environment was to become uninhabitable then part of the human race would be on a different planet. Also it is possible, even if some people think it isn’t. We would have to make an airtight house design, which would have two doors where you’d open one, close it, open the other one, then leave this room would have a few plants in it. You would have to have a few trees in your housing unit to produce oxygen. In the room between the two doors you would have cold-resistant space suits with oxygen tanks built in. People would have to cope with the lesser amount of gravity and that can make people’s bones weaker but you would never return to Earth so it doesn’t matter. You would have to be at least 18 to go without a parent or guardian. It would take about a month and a quarter to get to Mars but if we were going to a different solar system such as Alpha Centauri (which would take 20 years for a unmanned craft) we would either cryogenically freeze the people going or have better technology. We would bring crops and dirt/soil as well as many animals from Earth for food. And possibly if no water or ice was detected we could bring large cubes of ice. Another reason is that it would provide a lot of options for astronomers and researchers to get more information. Less people would be homeless or jobless. for the first few years they would get help from Earth. -Owen McMullen

There are many reasons that we should not send colonists to space to live. One reason is if we took people to any planet the planet would be to hot or to cold and people would not like that. We would also have to always bring air tanks for people to breath and also have a ship that you can stay in like a house. You would have to somehow get or make food. Then that would cost a lot of money so that means you would have to save and get a lot of donations and that would be hard if not a lot of people want to go to a planet to live. Then there is how would you get light? I know there is a sun but what if the customers want to be on a planet that has no sun? What would you have floating wires or something? This is why I think we should not be able to send people to live on planets.   -Caden  Brumagin
