This story all started with a neurobiologist from Cambridge University named Jennifer Morton. She said “The team picked sheep because the social animal communicate in many ways, one of which they suspected was facial recognition.” The team selected eight sheep and trained them using the faces of celebrities. The team used two screens. One had a face, while the other one had a blank screen or object. When the sheep chose the correct screen, they got a treat. When he or she picked the wrong screen, they were forced to listen to a loud buzzer noise as a punishment. Surprisingly, the sheep picked the right screen 75 percent of the time. This result in the team questioning as to whether or not the sheep had actually guessed they right face or if they just had a good memory. This ended up causing a lot more tests. However, these test proved there theory that sheep can recognize faces.
